Favorite Sonic level?

We can all admit that Sonic had lots of interesting levels, each with something new to the table, such as a new gimmick. There are always those levels which are either pretty much perfect or are just poorly designed in a spot or two. What is your favorite level in the series so far?

My favorite level is Emerald Coast! It's really cool and it might actually be the first beaach level in any Sonic Game.
My favorite part of that level might be the part with the whale chasing Sonic on the breaking bridge and finding Tails at the end of the level's second section (Act 2, so to say) in the first run.
